State Senator Joan Ballweg of Wisconsin extended warm holiday greetings to her constituents as she celebrated the start of winter and the joy of spending time with loved ones. In her message, Senator Ballweg emphasized the importance of appreciating the freedom to celebrate and practice faith freely during the holiday season.

Standing in front of the Wisconsin State Capitol Christmas Tree, which stands at an impressive 30 feet tall, Senator Ballweg highlighted its significance. The tree, originally planted as a memorial to Frank Magnus, a World War II Army veteran, dairy farmer, and local elected official, is adorned with thousands of lights and ornaments handmade by schoolchildren from across the state. Notably, several ornaments were created by children from the 14th Senate District.

The 2023 Wisconsin State Capitol Christmas Tree was officially lit on December 1, with this year's theme celebrating 175 years of Wisconsin Statehood. The decorations on the tree reflect the creativity and talent of Wisconsin's young students.

Senator Ballweg also took the opportunity to share her personal plans for the holiday season: "I am excited to be spending time with my family this holiday season, so from my family to yours, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!"

In addition to spreading Christmas cheer, Senator Ballweg's office announced their holiday hours, with the last e-update of the year being sent on December 21. Regular weekly e-updates will resume on January 4, 2024.

The senator also highlighted several local events taking place over the holiday period, including free Christmas day dinners in Portage and Waupaca, Wisconsin, as well as a free movie showing in Adams, Wisconsin on December 28. Additionally, a blood drive will be held in Waupaca on January 2, 2024.

As the year comes to a close, Senator Ballweg encouraged her constituents to stay connected by following her on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, and by visiting her website for the latest updates on her work in Madison.

With the holiday season in full swing, Senator Joan Ballweg wished everyone a safe and joyful holiday, reminding them of the importance of family, faith, and celebration. As the year draws to a close, her message serves as a reminder to appreciate the freedoms we enjoy and the spirit of togetherness that defines this festive time of year.
