It’s Our Best Shot - Patrick’s Story About Covid19

Bestshot

Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on March 16.

I could be that person that everybody looks at, "Wow, this guy died from COVID." You think about it when you're laying in there. "This is me. This is the one that can die from this." My name is Patrick. This is my wife, Joanne. I was on life support for more than two weeks. I barely survived COVID-19.

At two o'clock in the morning, on December 16th, he called and was crying because they were putting him on a ventilator. And that was the last time you heard his voice for over two weeks. And then through them two weeks, you had doctors say, "Prepare for the worst. Prepare that he's not gonna make it."

The very first thing I remember after I woke up, ventilators were out of me, is that this doctor came up and says, "All the nails were in the coffin, but one. Good thing nobody had a hammer around 'cause you're a miracle." Your wife or your siblings or your ma, your dad, whoever, they're the ones that are suffering.

Our grandson could have lost his grandpa.

And the repercussions afterwards, the numbness in your hands, the headaches. Your memory. Your internal organs. And they said you don't know the long term effects on any of this. Right.

Will you ever regain your memory back? We don't know.

I was not vaccinated because I didn't believe in it. I thought it was rushed through way too quick. And part of me was thinking it was politically motivated and felt that I just didn't need to get it. Boy was I wrong. Listen to what the doctors say. They've been dealing with this for over two years. This vaccine's been in the works for a long time.

I urge you to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

It's Our Best Shot.
